TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST

Cancellation Severe Thunderstorm Warning
For people in Lasseter and Tanami districts.

Issued at 9:58 pm Thursday, 17 January 2019.

Weather Situation: Satellite and radar imagery at 9:50 pm CST shows isolated gusty thunderstorms over the northern Lasseter and southern Tanami districts, between Watarrka and Tanami Downs, however these thunderstorms are weakening and no longer producing damaging wind gusts.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in Northern Territory.

The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.

A 90 km/h wind gust was observed at Alice Springs Airport at 2:30 pm CST.

The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should:
* avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current
* stay away from fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live
* stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways
